Girijans want 10% reservation in all categories
A large number of Girijans from the ten districts of the State participated in the maha Dharna at Indira Park on Wednesday demanding what was promised to them.

“The State is celebrating its second anniversary on June 2 and none of the items towards Girijans, which were promised in the manifesto, have been implemented,” lamented Laxman Naik, President of Girijan Reservation Sadhna Samithi.
“Many low rung communities like Boya Valmiki, Kaithl Lambada and others are in distress. The reservations have only been upto four per cent as against the six, which was introduced in 1986.
Although the Chellapa Commission was appointed to consider raising benefits to upto 10 per cent, welfare activities were denied to the community,” he added.
The people in the dharna demanded raising reservations to 10 per cent for education, job opportunities and other categories citing the sacrifices made from the community towards the cause of achieving Telangana Statehood.
