Schools considered as second home of children not only educate them but also assume the responsibility to bringing out the best in them. Unfortunately not many institutions are doing so. Many schools adopt new international techniques which help their students understand and develop a sense of confidence and perception not only in their budding stage but also later in life. One such institution is Jain Heritage Cambridge School, Kondapur, which believes in holistic development of children along with top academic scores.

Education should never be commercialised, noting that private schools are charging lump sum amounts as donation/fee as most have to meet various expenses and staff pay. Until the government funds private schools they have no other option but to charge high fees

“The main aim of education is to develop a sense of responsibility and clarity in students, which most of the schools are forgetting”, says K Laxmi Rao, Director (Academics). “Curriculum and teaching techniques should be developed with right technology and society but should never demean the country’s heritage and culture. it is the school’s responsibility to make sure that children never forget their roots” she points.

Laxmi, who started as an English Teacher in 1983 in a CBSE School, considers education as a tool to polish children mentally, emotionally, morally and physically. “We should teach children to give back to society from their initial years which will inspire them to become responsible individuals.

When asked what techniques are being followed to educate/inspire children, she confidently shares the school curriculum designed by her to cater their needs. “I have designed the curriculum called ‘PITCH Technology’, keeping both international practices and Indian values.

“P stands for personal touch where every teacher should understand and know the main techniques by which they can engage the children and educate them”.“I is for Involvement of parents. Parents inspire their kids, so we invite parents to talk, counsel and educate them”.

T stands for traditions and values. We celebrate all festivals irrespective of religion as they will help children in developing a positive attitude”. C is for child centric curriculum where children are the centre of the learning process; H is for holistic development of Children”

Talking about the parental pressure on children, Laxmi noted, “Parents should have clarity over their wards’ education as they are the decision-makers. They should opt for the children’s all-round development, rather than academic scores”.

She stressed that “education should never be commercialised, noting that private schools are charging lump sum amounts as donation/fee as most have to meet various expenses and staff pay. Until the government funds private schools they have no other option but to charge high fees”.
