Discover, Invent; Discovery, Invention

When you discover something, you are the first person to find it (which was already there) but when you invent it means you have created something that was not there before.

Discover means to become aware of either accidentally or with some efforts; detect something, find out; to find out the existence of something, determine the presence of something for the first time, and make a new finding that was not noticed before.

The derivatives of the verb discover are discovers, discovered, discovering; discoverable (adjective: ascertainable), discovery and discoverability (nouns).

Discovery is a noun.

You could be the first person to find talent / genius in someone.

Christopher Columbus discovered America.

Charles Darwin discovered the theory of evolution.

When you are the discoverer it means you are the first person to find out about something that was already there but unknown to the society.

In 1869, the Russian chemist Dmitry Mendeleev discovered that when arranged by atomic weight (Periodic Table), the chemical elements lined up to form groups with similar properties. As a result of this, Mendeleev forecasted that there were undiscovered elements. Based on this, Henry Moseley of England in 1913 confirmed that the table could be made more accurate by arranging the elements by atomic number.

Necessity is the mother of invention – adage James Watt invented the steam engine. Invent is a verb, and invention is a noun.
Invention is the one that is new, something that is original.
