Indo Japanese live health workshop hosted
Apollo Hospitals hosted ‘Indo Japanese Chronic Total Occlusion’ (IJCTO) live workshop on ‘Chronic Total Occlusions’ (CTO) on Monday.

Prof. Yamane from Japan, Dr V Surya Prakasa Rao, Chief Cardiologist and Dr PLN Kapardhi, Director Cathlab Services; performed complex Angioplasties on CTOs at the workshop.
Chronic Total Occlusions are hard and tough to dissolve heart blocks, which completely close the artery space and have existed for several months or years. Conventionally these patients need to undergo a Bypass surgery to clear the block.
However with this minimally interventional CTO procedure the blocks were cleared with 100 per cent success rate, the patients will be discharged in three to four days. The procedures were demonstrated live for cardiologists attending a seminar on IJCTO at Cochin.
