Anand Bekwad is a painter, who swears by the beauty of nature and hopes to use his strokes and creative workmanship to enlighten the people about the importance of protecting the environment.

Anand has specialised and worked with landscapes for quite a while. The artist has a diploma in drawing and painting from Belgaum and is now settled in Pune.

Bekwad says he is now completely focused on flowers. “Unlike June 5 that is celebrated as World Environment Day, I wish to celebrate nature every day of the year. This is the message I try passing on. I love nature.”

Bekwad points out that watering plants; is an integral way of marking the occasion. He chooses to paint the unique play of veiled and unveiled whispers of flowers and foliage.

“I go in for hibiscus, poppy, palash and Indian laburnum, and some less known flowers. However, all those beauties that catch my attention are taken as subject, which I highlight using watercolour in order to bring them to life,” says Anand.

He works on paper and canvas, but he does not label them because he leaves the interpretation of the painting to the viewer.
