Nagesh Kukunoor, who is coming up with the film ‘Dhanak’ recently launched a book of the same name penned by Anushka Ravishankar at SodaBottleOpenerWala. The book is the first Indian novelisation of a children’s film. In most of the cases novels are adapted as movies but in this case, it is completely opposite. The movie ‘Dhanak’ is scheduled to release on June 17.

On the occasion, the launch, cast and crew of the film read out a few sections of the book. The film ‘Dhanak’ has won the Crystal Bear Grand Prix for Best Children’s Film in 65th Berlin International Film Festival.

Dhanak is about two siblings Chotu (8) and his sister Pari (10). Chotu is blind, but it doesn’t bother him much. Pari promised her blind brother Chotu that she will help get his eyesight back before he turns 10.

When she spots her favourite star Shah Rukh Khan on the poster for an eye donation drive, she is convinced her hero will help her on her mission.

“I always love to be in my hometown Hyderabad. My first film ‘Hyderabad Blues’ started here. In ‘Dhanak’ we showcased the struggle of a sister to get his brother’s eyesight back.

The two kids, Hetal Gada and Krrish Chabria did well in the film. I thank Duckbill for publishing the book,” Nagesh Kukunoor said.
