Around 40 volunteers held placards with messages to spread awareness about elder abuse in view of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) at jubilee hills check post from 10 am to 12 pm, as part of the initiative by Nightingales home health services (NHHS). 

Around 40 volunteers held placards with messages to spread awareness about elder abuse in view of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) at jubilee hills check post from 10 am to 12 pm, as part of the initiative by Nightingales home health services (NHHS).

An increasing number of events are held across the globe on this day to raise awareness of elder abuse, and highlight ways to challenge it.

The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.

NHHS authorities told, “We felt that as an organisation committed towards the health of the elderly, should also look at educating the people against the abuse of elders, it was shocking to know that elder abuse was highest in the city after a few cities in north.”
