On the occasion of 29th anniversary of Kathak Kalashetra, a programme titled ‘Kathak Rasamritam’ was organised by the institute over the weekend at Ravindra Bharathi. Many performers from different state graced the occasion and showcased their love and passion towards Kathak.

A performance by four Kathak dancers left audience mesmerised with their glorious expression with an endless “thal” of tabla. The striking formations, the unremarkable drift of the other dancers and their footwork depiction was a delight to watch.

Monika Chakravarty, a classical dancer, said, “Here we can feel and enjoy the different essence of mudras through facial expression, through different parts of the body, structure, gestures, thal and most important chakras. Kathak Rasamritam is an exciting evening, worth remembering for a lifetime!”

Kathak Kalashetra was founded by Pandit Anju Babu and with his knowledge in the Kathak, the gifted dancer from Hyderabad added Deccani style to Kathak. He is also conducting workshops for the dance form at dance institutions located at Chikkadpally and Jubilee Hills. He is also planning to open a dance school in Banjara Hills soon.
