KIMS and Portea Medical collaborate to deliver home medical care

Healthcare group Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospitals and healthcare company Portea Medical announced a partnership to expand the delivery of the latter’s tech-enabled home health care services to KIMS’s patients in Secunderabad and Kondapur.

Following the agreement, patients discharged from the two branches will receive medical care that is customised to their requirements and delivered in the patient’s home. Depending on the specific patient requirements, Portea’s offering will include five components:

a) In-person medical care delivery by Portea Medical’s doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and nursing attendants;
b) Provision of medical equipment on rental / sale;
c) Collection of lab samples and delivery of medical reports;
d) Point-of- care medical devices for continuous monitoring; and
e) Ongoing patient support via phone / chat provided by Portea’s clinicians

Speaking about the partnership, vice president, strategy of KIMS hospitals Dr B Abhinay said, “At KIMS, we are focused on the well-being of our patients even after they are discharged and we would like to ensure all their medical needs are met on a continual basis.

Our partnership with Portea is aimed to ensure this, with high quality medical care and support being made available to patients within the comfort of their own homes.”

We believe our hospital-like care at home will encourage faster recovery for patients and enable specialists at KIMS to focus their efforts at the hospital to the treatment of patients requiring critical care.

Depending on the patient’s condition, ongoing care at home may be required for a few days, weeks, months or even decades,” she said.
