City based 13-year-old Saiprathik Chalamkuri, won the United States of America’s Presidential Education Award in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement for this year.

City based 13-year-old Saiprathik Chalamkuri, won the United States of America’s Presidential Education Award in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement for this year.

Saiprathik, who passed eighth grade at Robert R Lazar Middle School, New Jersey, USA received a certificate signed by US President Barack Obama, which was presented to him by the Principal of the school, Sharon Carr.

The award was given at the absolute discretion of the principal, based on Saiprathiks’s excellence in academic performance. Earlier, he had bagged ‘student of spotlight’ for April and as a Math wizard studying Algebra. He shows interest in automobile industry and latest innovations in the field.

Saiprathik is an avid reader as well; his favourite book is ‘The Time Machine’. He loves hearing music and playing computer games. “I want to become a scientist to know what exists beyond earth and the universe,” he said.

“We are proud of him, because he is not only good in studies, but he will help us in many ways including technological issues is an asset to our family,” said his parents.

The ‘President's Education Awards Program’ (PEAP) is sponsored by the US Department of Education, in partnership with National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

It was developed to help principals recognise and honour students who achieve high academic goals through smart work and dedication to learning.
