German scholarship for UoH scholar

Taijrani Rampersaud, PhD Research Scholar from the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad (UoH) and MA Communication Alumnus (2009-2011) has been awarded a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) workshop scholarship to attend “Mobilization for Change: Human Rights and the Empowerment of the Marginalized”, from September 3-8, at the Right to Livelihood Campus at Centre for Development Research, University of Bonn, Germany.

This workshop will feature distinguished scientists, practitioners and PhD students from all over the world together with Laureates of the “Alternative Nobel Prize”. The focus is on research and practice concerned with human rights and marginalised people in Asia and Africa.

Concepts and approaches of human rights, empowerment and marginalisation will be discussed in applied development contexts. Case studies of participatory empirical research will be presented, discussed and analysed in a cohesive transdisciplinary way by building on each participants’ expertise and experience.

The Right Livelihood College (RLC) is a global education and research initiative of universities and the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize”. The RLC Campus in Bonn is hosted by the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It provides transdisciplinary education and research in fields of social justice, poverty alleviation.
