Local challenger Tanishq Desai won gold in the inaugural Telangana State Open Sailing Regatta-2016 here on Thursday.

He took the first place with 37 points while his state-mate Konda Guruvaiah (39) had to rest content with silver. Tamil Nadu’s Vishnu Sarvanan was declared the champion in the Open category.
In the Race No seven Ramya Sarvanan took the lead up to the end of the first loop followed by Nethra Kummanan and Vishnu, also from Tamil Nadu.
After passing through the gate Ramya went to the right side and lost out to the more experienced duo, which battled it out and once Vishnu got ahead he stayed between the mark and Nethra never giving her a chance to pass.
Nethra did give Vishnu a tough time across the championship but had to settle for the Silver. In a sweet revenge she bagged the women category gold while Ramya won silver.
Final points tally: Telangana Youth Championships: Open:1. Vishnu Sarvanan( 9), 2. Nethra Kummanan (14), 3. Suresh Kumar( 27); State: 1. Tanishq Desai(37), 2.Konda Guruvaiah (39).
