M Dana Kishore, Managing Director, HMWSSB, reviewed Preventive Maintenance of Trunk Sewers/Sub-Mains using the Air-Tech machines, here at the Board office at Khairatabad on Tuesday . At present, 47 Air-Tech machines are working on hire basis and 11 vehicles pertaining to Board.

After a detailed review with the Directors and Chief General Managers it was proposed to utilise the hired Air-Tech machines for preventive sewer cleaning during the night time in respective divisions for cleaning the Sub-Mains on continuous basis so that the free flow takes place on the lateral sewers.

As this type of practice is prevalent in various other water utility Boards and also practiced earlier, it was proposed to re-commence the ‘Preventive Maintenance’ of sewers with Air-Tech machines during night time.

Further, the Board proposed to engage 150 Mini Air-Tech machines. Out of which 25 vehicles will be deployed to attend chokages and overflows and the remaining 125 will be deployed on ‘Preventive Sewer Maintenance’ along with 47 bigger Air-Tech machines.

All sewer manhole repairs will be taken up on war footing basis to match them to road surface and safety guards and caution boards will be erected at work sites. He also said that the AVTS (Automatic Vehicle Tracking System) would be started shortly on a pilot basis in 390 vehicles including free water tankers and Air-Tech machines.
