SCR goes on a tree plantation spree

The South Central Railway joined in Haritha Haram drive on Monday. The tree plantation drive covered South Lallaguda, North Lallaguda, Sitaphalmandi, Mettuguda, Moula-Ali, Kacheguda, Chilkalguda Railway colonies and around 5,000 saplings were planted involving the participation of Railway staff, School Children, Scouts & Guides, National Green Corps.

At Malkajgiri, members of Lions Club and local passenger association also joined with SCR in tree plantation drive. Later, the General Manager visited Railway Mixed High School, South Lallaguda, Secunderabad for an inspection and undertook tree plantation at the school premises besides advising the young students to care for trees and environment.

Around 10acres of land at Sanathnagar, 20acres at Cherlapalli, 30acres between Sanathnagar and Lingampalli was levelled to undertake block plantation of 30,000 trees. Another 30,000 trees are planned in the mid section between Bhongir-Cherlapalli.

Ravindra Gupta planted a sapling at South Lallaguda Railway colony, Secunderabad to formally commence the tree plantation drive. He gave a call to all the Railway men to plant one tree each and nurture its growth, so as to enable create a greener environment.

He expressed the resolve of SCR to undertake all measures towards environmental protection and conservation of nature, since the same is a vital need of the present times. The General Manager was joined by AK Gupta, Addl General Manager, Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions and other senior officials in the tree plantation drive.
