Forget the days when you painstakingly learnt about what kind of wine goes with what kind of food, and followed the rules to the T. Now, it’s all about breaking the rules, and making your own.
Forget the days when you painstakingly learnt about what kind of wine goes with what kind of food, and followed the rules to the T. Now, it’s all about breaking the rules, and making your own.
The blind tasting session at the lobby café, Link at Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel, Gachibowli was all about breaking the wine pairing rules, and introduction to the new Paired Menu.
Sheraton Hyderabad’s Master class was all about discovering individual wine pairing choices and introduction to the new ‘Pairing Menu’
During the session Brand champion Preetam Rai took the participants through the wines and guided them along the path of discovery – where it was alright to enjoy the Asian spiced lamb meat balls with Jacobs Creek Chardonnay (An Australian white wine), and assured that there’s nothing wrong with you because you liked the Italian still red wine La corte Refosco with the Smoked Ocean Salmon.
The other wines on the menu included the sparkling wine (Chandon Brut) that anyway goes with everything – rules or no rules; Grover's red and white wines - Zampa Cabernet Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc.
The handpicked wines apparently were rated over 85 points by Wine Spectator, and they were paired with carefully crafted bar snacks that would score equally or even more on the taste meter; the credit goes to Executive Chef Kapil Dubey who was personally present to ensure the bar snacks flowed without a pause.
The superstars among the shining stars of the evening, meal balls and salmon (top rankers), were, the chicken tikka rolls (Indian tikka filled Chinese spring rolls) dipped in hot and sweet chilli sauce, delicately garlicky shrimps, stuffed jalapenos (filled with cheese and deliciously fried), the plain, yet melt-in-the-mouth
aloomutterkitikki and litchi ke kebab (one of its kind recipe where a litchi was filled with cottage cheese and nuts).
The special paired menu will be made available at the tables for guests to choose their favourites; recommendations apart.
