SCRPS protests against Tahasildar

The members of the Schedule Castes Rights Protection Society (SCRPS) Telangana State staged a protest at Mandal Office of Tahasildar, Musheerabad Mandal, at Lower Tank Bund on Tuesday.

The protestors demanded minimum three acres of land to each member in the districts and to provide double bedroom facility to people, who are living in city limits. The agitators submitted a memorandum to the authorities concerned and requested them to fulfill the promises made by the government for the community.

D Sudershan Babu, state president of SCRPS, said: “Telangana government in their manifesto promised that they will give 2 acres of land to a member, who is having 1 acre and 1 acre to a person having 2 acres, and 3 acres to a person, who do not have any land to do agriculture in the districts of Telangana.

And for the people who are living in the city limits, where agricultural activity is remote they promised to provide double room facility, in lieu of 3 acres of land in districts. However, nothing has done till date, and the Dalit community is still oppressed suppressed.”

There are 80 lakh Dalits in the State of which 20 lakh hail from Hyderabad, and there are 1,422 slums in the city.
