The food is from Gujarat – the vegetarian food paradise – and it was home maker turned chef Nirupama who created delightful specialties with all the goodness of homemade food intact for the food festival at Momo Café, Courtyard Marriott.

A small preview of the tasty trail included the quintessentially Gujarati – Khandvi, the spicy patra made using colacassia leaves, gram flour, ginger, green chillies and cumin (it is ingenious the way simple ingredients are used to create such variety and tasteful dishes) and Methi ka phool wada – simply the best.

The main course had the popular curry Undhiyu –made with assorted vegetables sourced from Mumbai, peanut and sesame seed paste, coconut and even ripe banana which could be had with poori (the ideal combo) or phulka.

The chef plans to showcase the best from the state through the 10 days of the promotion, until July 31, and that includes the fingerlickingly good Tindola batata, kadhi that in a sense completes a Gujarati meal, dal dhokli, and ghee rice, and the desserts like Srikhand, Sheera and Puran poli.
If you are a vegetarian and a food lover, and have always been cribbing about how there is such less variety available for you – then it is time to head to Momo Café. The chef promises to make a variety of Gujarati dishes that will be featured on the buffet menu during dinners. She will even top it up with masala chai – ghar ka style.
