The Mahathma Gandhi Community Hall at Trimulgherry has turned into a cesspool due to undaunted rains for the past few days.

The surroundings of the premises are bogged with drain and mud water, emanating obnoxious smell and causing inconvenience to the people there.

Heaps of the garbage are being dumped from an open area of the Community Hall to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard at Yapral and are not being lifted on timely basis. Adding to woes, colony members are exposed to diseases due to mosquito menace and other viral fevers.

The emanating smell had been causing inconvenience to the commuters and neighbourhood areas with a decline in the number of visitors to the library.

The residents requested the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) authorities to lay separate underground drain lines and have garbage lifted from the areas on timely basis.

However, when contacted, the concerned sanitary inspector was not available for comment.
