Hyderabad: Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet celebrated 70th Independence Day at school premises by paying tributes to the freedom fighters.

The students of the school carried out the theme of the program named by the Prime Minister of India, ‘70 Saal Azadi –Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani’.

The portals of the school adorned the patriotic fervor with a vibrant range of display made by the students on the above theme.

The celebration started with the students expressing their love for the country by answering the question,”What can they do for the country?”

All the students answered the question with elated joy they had in their hearts to serve the country. This presentation was used as the backdrop decoration of the stage that added vibrancy of unity in diversity.

The Principal of the School Jayanthi Venkataraman, hoisted the national flag. In her Independence Day address to the gathering, she spoke about the significance of history, how it helps us shape our future and acts as a linkage between the past and the future.

The Vice Principal R Sarita in her welcome speech referred to the wonderful legacy that we have inherited from our freedom fighters that is filled with plurality and diversity yet binds us all as one.

She also told the students to strengthen their patriotism by adhering to one religion that is ‘Indian’ and one identity ‘The Tiranga’.

Cultural Programme on freedom struggle added streak to the celebrations. It began with the declamation of Swami Vivekananda’s speech followed by patriotic songs and dances.

The cultural club captain and the head girl of the school through their speeches induced the sense of true freedom in the young minds.

They asked their fellow students to know the value of freedom that they enjoy today, for, it comes with the heritage of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters that they have made without any second thought.

The program concluded with the vote of thanks.
