People always migrate from one place to another within a region (emigrate), within a country or beyond one’s country of origin, and settle elsewhere (seen as immigrants).

Migration is part of the human history.

Immigration and emigration are labels given to migrants from a point of view.

Sweden in the 17th and 18th centuries was a country of emigration (Swedes left their country to other countries but principally to the USA) to escape poverty, religious persecution, for a better life and livelihoods, because of a belief that the country is not going to get better but worse among others but now it is country of immigration, too.

Migrate is a verb meaning someone who moves from one place to another place to live or work or both or for a short duration of time. Like human beings, animals and birds move from one place to another according to the seasons.

Migrants are those people who migrate from one place to another place for one or the other reason. They could be emigrants or immigrants!

Immigration control is the check point at an airport, sea terminal etc where passports and other documents of people wanting to come into a country are checked.
