To mark seventy years of Independence, BabuJagjivan Ram Government Degree College, Narayanaguda  dedicated August 9-23 as‘Azadi-70 YaadKaroKurbani’ fortnight.  Celebrations began with elocution competition, essay writing competition, rangoli competition, flag hoisting on August 15 followed by cultural programs. 

Hyderabad: To mark seventy years of Independence, BabuJagjivan Ram Government Degree College, Narayanaguda dedicated August 9-23 as‘Azadi-70 YaadKaroKurbani’ fortnight. Celebrations began with elocution competition, essay writing competition, rangoli competition, flag hoisting on August 15 followed by cultural programs.

There after each day was dedicated to different themes like- women empowerment, feminism, patriotism, photo exhibition on freedom fighters etc-. Sahitya Academy Award winning Telugu writer P Lalitha Kumari, popularly known as Volga addressed the students on feminism. To inspire girl students’ telugu film Rudramadevi was screened.

To instill a sense of patriotism among all the studentsremind students of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters for the love of their mother landfilmslike‘Gandhi’ were screened.

On Tuesday Sadbhavana run was organised from BJR College to Ambedkar Statue on tank bund. MLA ChintalaRama Chandra Reddy flagged off the rally. Around 300 students of the college, along with teaching and non-teaching staff set afoot with placards in hands and raising slogans on importance of freedom.

After garlanding the Ambedkar Statue, the celebrations were concluded at 11amas per the instructions of University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development with mass singing of national anthem.
