Prof S Rama Chandram, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University was the guest of honour. Over 851 students received their degrees and 7 Gold Medal have been awarded.
Gold Medalists:
1.Guglothu Renuka ---- M Sulochana and Y Bhaskar Rao endowment award for securing highest marks in B.Com
2.J Swarna Lakshmi -- State Bank of Hyderabad Gold Medal for securing highest marks in B.Sc Biological Sciences
3.Phani Sinduri Anata Depthi Gummidala – C Subbayamma Memorial Gold Medal for highest marks in Physics. She also secured State Bank of Hyderabad Gold Medal for securing highest marks in B.Sc physical sciences
4 Gundu Navatha – G Vidulatha Memorial Gold Medal for securing highest marks in Political science
5.Sneha Utwal has been awarded Prof Pramada Devi Gold Medal for securing marks in Social sciences
6.Jampala Mounika for securing highest marks in Telugu Literature.
Speaking on the occasion, Aruna Bahuguna called upon all the girls to subject themselves to SWOT test analysing their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This will enable the girls to acquire necessary strength to face obstacles and hurdles in life.
Given the pace of nation’s developments and progress, she said, the girls will have ample opportunities to grow but they must have necessary skill and talent to grab the opportunities.
Comparing the days when the girl education was a problem with the present times where the girls have opportunities to choose their career, she appealed to the girls to work in their own spheres of interactional zones to help those women from the deprived sections who are still the victims of bias and prejudice. Citing Madeleine Albright she said ‘there is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women’.
She narrated the examples of Sania Mirza, PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik to illustrate the point how girls from middle class and lower middle class backgrounds are able to excel.
She they are the real inspiration for young girls as they have proved that hard work yields dividends Prof Rama Chandram, appealed to the faculty and the principal to work in a manner that no girl leave the college without a job.
He emphasised the imperative of improving skills to gain employability. He said each college must have strategic planning.
University College for Women must have an incubating center, which on the lines of T-hub, will be able to help girls work on their creative ideas.
Prof BT Seetha Principal, Prof Appa Rao, Controller of Exams Osmania University, Porg Neethi Saxena, Controller of Exams University College for Women, Prof Shiv Kumar, Joint Director CP& AS have participated in the convocation.
