Telugu day celebrations at Sister Nivedita School

​Hyderabad: The birth anniversary of the famous poet, Gidugu Ram Murthy who relentlessly fought for the introduction of ‘Vaduka Basha’ or spoken dialect at all levels is celebrated as Telugu Language Day.

Sister Nivedita School, organised a cultural programme to commemorate this day. The students participated with a lot of enthusiasm in The Play School. The celebration began with a song recited in Praise of Telugu language followed by a short skit.

The encouragement towards development of ‘Telugu Bhasham‘ by the great king Krishna Devaraya and the presence of mind by the eminent poet of his court ‘Tenali Rama, were the highlight of the skit.

On the other hand the students of the Secondary School hailed Telugu in the presence of the eminent educationist, poet, writer and linguist V. Kondal Rao. The occasion was graced by this legenday poet of Telugu.

The students spoke about the notable works of V. Kondal Rao who has to his credit many original and translations that are widely read and admired.

His famous translation ‘Kinnerasani’ was recited and portrayed in the form of a classical dance. In his address to the students, V. Kondal Rao spoke about the unique heritage and culture of mother tongue, reiterating the words that mother tongue helps in learning and mastering other languages and subjects.

V. Kondal Rao was felicitated on this occasion by the Principal of the school, Jayanthi Venkataraman who mentioned to the students that it is a blessing to be associated with the legendary persona whose name reckons talented personality and great accomplishments.

In the cultural entertainment segment, students presented songs, dances, Avadhanam etc.
