To mark the inauguration of the Tomotherapy Oncology Annexe, the Apollo Hospitals invited Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu and her coach P Gopichand along with IT Minister KT Rama Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Group-founder Dr Prathap C Reddy said that cancer is conquerable and can be eliminated in the next 30 years.

Explaining about the latest equipment he said, “Tomotherapy, the latest equipment for curing cancer, enables precise treatment by tightly conforming the radiation dose delivery to the shape of the tumour, while being noninvasive and as painless like an x-ray.”

The scanner constitutes a unique design, which helps in treating a wide range of cancers from routine to most complex and from head to toe. Cancers of the breast, prostrate, lung, rectal, brain tumours and CRANIO –Spinal Radiotherapy can be treated with precision and minimal side effects.

This equipment with innovative TomoHelical and TomoDirect brings in the maneuverability to reach the radiation delivery in a more controlled manner and with greater accuracy even in unreachable areas with least harm to health of the patient.

Another special feature the treating doctor gets is the ability to asses, customise, monitor and maintain according to patient’s need.

“Also each one of us is unique and each patient has his unique signature disease, therefore only personalised treatment will give better cure and this is where Tomotherapy will make the difference,” he added.
