The Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) celebrated its Convocation ceremony at its campus in Banjara Hills on Monday. Over 732 students graduated this year with a pass percentage of 87.1 per cent.

Addressing the students the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University Prof. S Ramachandram said, “Companies hire students for the skills they acquire.”

He advised the passing out students to have both the right attitude and the necessary aptitude for job adding that incubation centres must help students in college to make products and enable them to become entrepreneurs in market.

“MJCET’s applications for setting up research centre which were pending with OU will be immediately taken up,” he assured.

Later, he invited the students to be part of university’s Centenary celebrations that are due to commence in April 2017.

Congratulating the passing out students, Dr J Purnachandra Rao, Additional Director General of Police and Chairman, said, ‘In order to be able to contribute to the society, students must know the reality of the world. Unless one understands the character and skill matrix of an individual, one cannot really perform better.”

Dr Rao quoted the example of how real-life heroes like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Mother Teresa (now St. Teresa) through their distinguished approaches have made constructive difference to the society. He said ‘these personalities had enormous skills and great character”, something the students must acquire and improve.

The Secretary of Sultan-Ul-Uloom Education Society (SUES) Zafar Javeed delivered the welcome address and said “There has been a constant development in every facility provided, and keeping pace with changing times. The pursuit of excellence is always there.”

MJCET Director Dr Basheer Ahmed presented the graduates to the Senate for oath while SUES Vice-Chairman Mohammed Waliullah administered the oath to the students.
