City-based Dr Manish Gunjan, Head of Department and Senior Interventional Cardiologist, Aware Global Hospitals at LB Nagar has been bestowed the rare honour of presenting two case studies at Aim Radial in Budapest, Hungary.

The announcement came from the Hospitals on Tuesday through a statement that said, “Dr Gunjan is the only Indian doctor to be presenting his papers in the prestigious international conference that is being held in Budapest, Hungary on September 22 and 23. Aim Radial is an international conference for cardiologists practicing cardiac interventions through the Radial route.”

Expressing his delight, Dr Gunjan, said, “While complications are less common with the radial technique (Transradial), the advantage for the patients is that they no longer need to lie flat and still for four to six hours, or experience what is sometimes a very painful process of manual compression of the Femoral artery to curb the bleeding.

Patients leave the catheterisation lab and are able to sit up and walk almost immediately. Because of the simpler healing process for the radial arterial puncture in the wrist, certain patients may also be discharged without having to spend the night in the hospital.”

As a part of the conference Dr Gunjan will be presenting two unique case studies that would focus on Transradial Angioplasty of the Subclavian artery and Transradial Angioplasty of AWMI (anterior wall myocardial infarction) with a large Thrombus (blockage) in Left Main artery using Eptifibatide that was performed in a 22-year-old male.
