Upholstery can liven up a room and make it more welcoming. As it is not every day that we change the upholstery one must always go for a colour scheme that is minimal and neutral so that it can be highlighted and accentuated with bright cushions and décor pieces.

If the background is muted then it becomes very easy and fun to add vibrant throw pillows and statement décor items. Another great conversation starter is the carpet that you use. It usually draws the eye and can make a statement. Keep it plush and rich and compliment the look with subtle curtains.

Go for intricate embroidery or floral patterns in a sheer fabric. Sheer fabrics are the best bet when it comes to curtains because they make the room airier and the play of light they provide is simply ethereal!

Too many furniture items are a complete no no! Go for statement, full size furniture that makes the drawing room comfortable and more accessible to your guests.

Too many pieces just make it cluttered. A very intelligent idea to furbish your drawing room is to use corner artefacts. They instantly uplift the décor. Polish the entire look with décor statements and trinket add ons.
