Apollo Hospitals, Secunderabad hosted a CSR initiative on ‘Preventive Heart Health’, ‘Disease and Symptoms’, management and treatment options awareness through a programme for students from Gitanjali Devashray School, Wesley College and Keyes High School.
Apollo Hospitals, Secunderabad hosted a CSR initiative on ‘Preventive Heart Health’, ‘Disease and Symptoms’, management and treatment options awareness through a programme for students from Gitanjali Devashray School, Wesley College and Keyes High School.
About 400 students of classes 10, 11 and 12 participated apart from the people who were invited as gustes.
An exhibition organised on the day included education by 3D models, posters and pictorial depiction of heart care, causes and symptoms of disease, healthy diet and lifestyle along with treatment options. A team of doctors and nurses educated the students on heart functioning, tips to stay healthy with exhibits and posters.
The highlight of the programme was Chief Cardiologist at Apollo Hospitals, Dr Shiv Kumar who demonstrated Live Angioplasty procedure to students and explained how a diseased heart and blocked arteries are repaired and how stenting to the arteries is done to resume normal blood circulation.
In addition, emergency medicine doctors demonstrated basic life support and CPR technique.According to Dr Kumar, the objective was to bring about awareness in the younger generations on the significance of preventive care, risk factors and the need for periodic health checks, so as to reduce the prevalence of heart diseases in the population.
