The Hyderabad City Police department has taken the initiative to involve corporations to sponsor the implementation of CCTV surveillance system in the Old City.

The Hyderabad City Police department has taken the initiative to involve corporations to sponsor the implementation of CCTV surveillance system in the Old City.

As part of this endeavour, the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad entered into an MoU with Synchrony Financial on Tuesday. The company is spending an amount of Rs 50 lakh for the project at Chandrayangutta and Falaknuma Police Stations.

The MOU was signed by M Mahendar Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad and Kurt Grossheim, EVP and Chief Operating Officer, Synchrony Financial, in the presence of Faisal Uddin, Sr Vice-President and Business Leader, Synchrony Financial India, VV Srinivas Rao, Addl. Commissioner of Police, (L&O) and Murali Krishna, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Admin), along with other senior leaders from the company.

The project
The project will involve setting up of IP-based outdoor security surveillance cameras for the next five years. It will encompass a Command and Control Centre for 24x7 monitoring of the cameras. The network will comprise of 64 CCTVs (32 in each PS jurisdiction), Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR), Video Analytics, Mobile Surveillance System, Command Control Centre and Data Centre.

The CCTV security systems will be strategically placed to monitor key areas such as building entrances, street corners, elevators, and equipment rooms. Several vital installations will be mapped round-the-clock through IP-based outdoor surveillance cameras. The CCTV cameras technology will act as a force multiplier and help in checking crime and violation of traffic rules.

Speaking on the occasion Grossheim said, “The installation of CCTV cameras will be an important step in helping to make Hyderabad a safer and a smarter city. We have been working closely with the police department and have been training key personnel on people-friendly policing.

We believe the strengthening of the surveillance network will positively impact and improve the safety of citizens in Hyderabad.” In addition, Synchrony Financial India has been actively working with the police department to implement initiatives like She Shuttle service in Cyberabad.
