Independent photographer and writer, Lakshmi Prabhala launched her photography exhibition titled ‘Absolute Hyderabad’ at Goethe-Zentrum on Tuesday, showcasing her pet subject, the unchanging side of Hyderabad.

Lakshmi Prabhala travelled around the city to capture moments, which reflect the old Hyderabad. Her works transform daily life into engaging visuals and true to her documentary style, she dives into the natural environment of her subjects and presents them in memorable ways.

She discovered street photography as a celebration of a moment, when various elements of a photograph come together and align themselves to evoke a feeling or an emotion.

“Hyderabad has witnessed many changes in recent years. The structure of Hyderabad is changing. In my exhibition, I capture the unchanging side of the city. This process started long back.

I travelled around and clicked pictures. In my journey I found many changed and unchanged places. This was also a good experience for me to discover newer things about the city of pearls,” said Lakshmi Prabhala.

Speaking about the necessity of changes in every city, she said, “Changes are inevitable. Things will not be same for the long time. We cannot stop changes. Photographs are like a documentary in time and they too will change every year.”

In this exhibition she showcased works like Reel or Real Life, Filmy Shave, Corner Shop, Around the Corner, Cat-Nipping, Sweets and Savories, Madrassa, Garlands, Flying Kites, Thank You, Pans and Ladles and Calm amid a Flurry.
