Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has identified as many as 370 unauthorised structures which were constructed after October 28, under the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS).

Officials said that most of the unauthorised structures were in VIP zones and it has been quite a task to get them cleared even after notices were issued to them.

According to a highly placed source, the corporation, during its recent survey, has identified about 6,000 complaints of illegal structures from November till date.

He said that the corporation after a multi-level verification (examining of old record and Google maps) has identified 365 records so far.

He also said that most of the unauthorised structures were owned by influential persons and constructed in prime areas of the city.

A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the civic body would issue notices to the owners of all unauthorised structures.

He said that following the High Court directions, all unauthorised constructions which were constructed post BPS date would be demolished by the year’s end.

He added that most of the illegal structures were identified in the areas including, Banjara Hills, Madhapur,Serilingampally, Tarnaka and others.

GHMC official further said that the corporation officials have been receiving several obligations from political leaders to include their respective structures under BPS even if they were constructed after the due date.

He said that the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in a recent meeting had instructed them to not spare any illegal constructions and also asked for it to be brought to his notice if they receive any political pressures.

He said that since the case on BPS was under the cognizance of the court, the corporation was unable to process 1, 13,298 applications, which were applied under BPS.
