Dengue deaths on the rise

Reacting to reported dengue deaths in a few villages in Khammam district and other areas in the State, the State Government on Monday directed officials to send special teams to those areas and ensure that viral fever and other diseases do not spread.

Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy held a high-level review meeting at Secretariat and took stock of the situation.

He directed the Health Department officials to take immediate steps to contain the possible spread of dengue and other viral fevers in Khammam villages such as Bonakal, Ravinutala and Govindapuram.

Dr Reddy asked the officials to send specialist doctors and staff to attend to the patients and provide them immediate medication.

“The officials should equip with necessary testing material and staff to offer health services,” he said.

He also asked them to stay put in the villages and prevent possible spread of the dengue and other fevers.
