All the important Shiva temples across the Medak district were teeming with devotees in Sangareddy/Siddipet/Medak/Jinnaram/Toopran on Monday with the commencement of Karthika month, the auspicious month for worshipping Lord Shiva. They performed  special poojs and ‘abhishekam’.

Medak: All the important Shiva temples across the Medak district were teeming with devotees in Sangareddy/Siddipet/Medak/Jinnaram/Toopran on Monday with the commencement of Karthika month, the auspicious month for worshipping Lord Shiva. They performed special poojs and ‘abhishekam’.

In Sangareddy, situated on the border with Karnataka, people thronged the Jarasangham Sangameswara temple, Rejinthal Vighneswara temple and the Kasivisheswara temple. At Sri Ketaki Sangameswara temple, which is famous as ‘Dakshina Kashi’, devotees from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in large numbers, performed rituals with a lot of devotion. They also took a holy dip in the River.

Addressing the media, Basawa Swamy, an Archaka of the temple said that the ‘kalyanam’ or celestial wedding of Lord Sangameswara, followed by ‘pallaki seva’, would be organised on the Karthika Pournami day.

In Siddipet and Toopran, the devotees went round the Kotilingala temple and Ramalingeswara Swamy temple respectively. In Medak, devotees of Lord Shiva offered special pooja to the deities in the old shrines. They made a beeline to the Basaveswara and Mallikarjuna temples.
