A police constable working in the 5-Town police station, Navathe Srinivas, in Nizamabad bagged the bronze medal in the 13th National Masters Swimming Championship-2016 held from October 21 to 23 at Hyderabad. 

Nizamabad: A police constable working in the 5-Town police station, Navathe Srinivas, in Nizamabad bagged the bronze medal in the 13th National Masters Swimming Championship-2016 held from October 21 to 23 at Hyderabad.

He won in the 100 metres backstroke. More than 8000 participants from different parts of the country participated in the event. Commissioner of Police Karthikeya presented the bronze medal and the commendation certificate to Srinivas at the police parade grounds in the town on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was a matter of great pride and joy that a person from Nizamabad district could bag the bronze medal. He said that constable Srinivas made the district and the Telangana State proud by his extraordinary performance.

He expressed the hope that more sportsmen would bring laurels to the Telangana State and Nizamabad at the international levels.

The Police Commissioner said that the police department would provide all the necessary facilities for encouraging sportspersons in the State. If they had any problems, he could bring them to his notice he added.

Additional Commissioner of Police (OSD) B N Rahul Hegde,AR ACP Syed Anwar Hussain, Special Branch C H Venkanna, several head constables, constables and others were present.
