​Bhadrachalam: On account of carving out Bhadrachalam district, the distance the River Godavari flows has come down to mere 80 km in the district.

The river flows for a distance of 1,464.19 km in Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In fact, 20 per cent of the distance the river flows is in Telangana.

It enters the temple city of Bhadrachalam after travelling for a distance of 1,236 km. The length of the river here is measured as 1,600 meters.

After Rajahmundry, Godavari splits into three tributaries with one tributary getting merged with the sea at Yanam, another one at Antarvedi and the third one at Komaragiripatnam.

In undivided state of Andhra Pradesh, Godavari travelled a total distance of 180 km. Upon creation of Bhadrachalam district, the distance travelled by the river got reduced to 80 km.

The river is flowing in Charla, Dummugudem and Bhadrachalam mandals of the district.
