The members of Sikh community from Hyderabad and neighbouring districts of the State were present in large numbers to welcome the Jagriti Yatra, which reached Hyderabad on Monday night.

The yatra arrived from Nagpur. Scores of devotees thronged the streets to get a glimpse of Jagriti Yatra, a decorated bus carrying weapons including swords, spears, arrows and daggers and a hand written Guru Granth Sahib belonging to the period AD 1666 to 1708.

The yatra was flagged off by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from Takht Harmandir Sahib, Patna on October 13. It is a journey of awakening and enlightening, as part of 350th birth anniversary celebrations of the Guru.

It was kept for display during Vishal Deewan (mass congregation) which was held at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium near High Court on Tuesday for offering prayers by the devotees.

It left to Takhat Hazur Sahib (Nanded) in Maharashtra in the evening before going to Rajasthan, Delhi and Punjab. The yatra is being organised by the prabandhak committee of the Patna Saheb Gurdwara.

The Sikh community is going to celebrate the occasion on a very large scale and this yatra has been started to make the people aware about their guru, his sacrifices and his contribution.

The yatra traversed various parts of the city. The weapons are otherwise preserved at the Patna Saheb Gurdwara. Jagriti Yatra in the form of Nagar Kirtan (Holy Procession) is travelling across length and breadth of the country.
