​Karimnagar: The District Collector, Sarfaraz Ahmed, ordered the officials to take all necessary steps for the development of Karimnagar city by arranging traffic signals, establishing parking places, bus stands and foot paths as the city was included in the list of smart cities.

The Collector chaired a review meeting with the officials of various departments along with Mayor Ravinder Singh and Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy at the Collectorate conference hall here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector suggested the Municipal Commissioner to form a Vending Committee as per the Street Vendor Act and remove the encroachments by roadside vendors after allotting a separate place for them.

The officials were further directed to fill the long gaps between the dividers on the main road; establish bus stands at main centres like Karimnagar DCC Bank, Kamaan, Circus Ground, Court Chowrastha and Mancherial chowrastha; establish seven more vegetable markets along with the existing four in the city; arrange name plates at bypass roads to avoid confusion.

Mayor Ravinder Singh said the State government has allotted Rs 100 crore for the development of the city. One more parking place will be arranged at the earliest in addition to the existing two parking places.

‘With public cooperation, we are also trying to arrange central lighting system. All steps will be taken to develop of the city,’ he added.

Additional SP Annapurna, R&B Executive Engineer Ragavachary, Municipal Commissioner Venkatesham were present along with other officials.
