Nalgonda: The relatives of a newborn baby boy who died due to injuries during the delivery on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of a private hospital alleging doctors’ negligence for the death.

Jayamma, wife of Koteshwar Rao, native of Madhavarigudem of Nidamanoor mandal of Nalgonda district, was admitted to Uma Nursing Home at Doctors’ Colony in Miryalaguda town on Monday after she developed labour pains.

As Jayamma developed complications, the doctors had to perform cesarean operation to take the baby out. However, the baby received injuries during the operation turning his health condition critical.

The doctors immediately advised the shifting of the baby to Hyderabad for better treatment. However, the newborn died on the way.

Alleging that the negligence of doctors during caesarian operation has caused the injuries on the baby, the relatives of Jayamma staged a dharna in front of the hospital.

The father of the infant, Koteshwar Rao, alleged that the baby received cuts of surgical blades during the operation due to negligence of doctors.

Giving clarification on the incident, Dr Raju of Uma Nursing Home informed that some complications have developed during the operation due to size of head of the infant.

“We performed caesarian to save the life of the mother,” he said accepting that the baby has received injuries on some parts during the delivery, but not due to surgical blades. “We have tried our level best to save the baby,” he claimed.
