Mahabubabad: The activists of Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi (LHPS) have taken out a padayatra here on Thursday demanding the State government setting up of a steel plant at Bayyaram in Mahabubabad district.

They launched the nine kilometres padayatra at Bayyaram mandal headquarters to Mahabubabad district headquarters.

The padayatra was led by the LHPS leader Bellaiah Naik. Speaking to press persons on reaching Mahabubabad, he asked the TRS government to initiate immediate steps to establish the steel plant at Bayyaram.

The UPA government has promised to set up the steel plant at Bayyaram during the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Measures to deliver the promise must be taken up in a speedy manner for the development of the region, the LHPS leader demanded.

He also wanted the government to upgrade tribal thandas into gram panchayats as promised by the TRS in its election manifesto.

The MRPS leader Guggilla Peeraiah, who extended solidarity to the LHPS padayatra, said setting up the steel plant could ensure employment generation and economic development of the district.

Hence the government should expedite the process of setting up the plant at Bayyaram. The LHPS leaders B Bheema Naik, Kishan Naik and others took part in the padayatra.
