Bhupalpalli: As many as 57 posters allegedly by Maoist activists were found pitched on Warangal-Bhupalpatnam national highway 163 in the district on Thursday.

The finding of so many posters on the road side at Vijayapur colony near Kothapalli in Venkatapur mandal created sensation in the wake of the bandh called by Maoists on the day condemning the recent Malkangiri encounter that took place on AP-Odisha border.

After informed by a villager, the police recovered the posters. The content of the posters was not known as they were reportedly written in Chhattisgarhi, a language spoken in Chhattisgarh.

The impact of Maoists’ bandh was felt in agency areas like Wazedu, Venkatapur, Kataram and others, while the situation in the areas like Bhupalpalli and Mulug remained normal. Heavy bando bust was made across the district in view of the bandh.

Armed police conducted combing and search operations in the villages and on the roads to check for any movement of Maoist activists.

It might be noted that Telangana Democratic Front leaders and Revolutionary Democratic Front (RDF) president P Varavara Rao extended support to the Maoist bandh.

The bandh passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents.
