​Adilabad: District Collector Jyothi Buddaprakash directed the officials of the Irrigation and Revenue Departments to speed up works relating to the pending projects and complete them on time so that water could be supplied to the farmers for irrigating their lands.

Participating in a review meeting with them at his camp office here on Thursday, he expressed his unhappiness over the delay in the construction works of Chenaka-Korata Barrage on the Penganga and the works pertaining to the lift irrigation schemes. He pulled up the officials for their laxity in the completion of the works.

The District Collector said that the revenue officials should scout for 100 acres of land for completing the Chenaka-Korata project.

He directed the Land Surveyor should appoint retired persons as surveyors and the land identification and acquisition should be completed by November 30. He also enquired about the status pertaining to the pending works of minor and major irrigation projects and that of Mission Kakatiya.

Collector Buddhaprakash told the officials that they should take up the help of revenue officials in organizing awareness camps to create awareness among the farmers about land acquisition.

He directed Executive Engineer Sunil to speed up works pertaining to Mattadi project stretching over 15,000 acres of land, Satnala project spread over 6,000 acres and other minor projects covering 22,000 acres of lands.

He told him that they should not compromise on the quality and the works should be of high quality. The District Collector warned that stringent action would be taken against those officials who indulge in corruption and irregularities in the completion of the projects.

He said that the farmers would be immensely benefited if the projects were completed on time and the problem of water scarcity could be resolved. There should be proper coordination between the officials of various department in the district, he added.

District Joint Collector Krishna Reddy, Chief Engineer Bhagawantha Rao, Penganga Superintending Engineer Ahmad Hussian, Executive Engineer of Misssion Kakatiya Sunil Kumar and other were present.
