Hyderabad: The B-School, Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management has organised a Business Conclave on the contemporary theme “ FUTURE OF WORK-ROLE OF HR’ at Hotel Avasa, Madhapur.

Harish Raichandani, Founder CEO-Potentia, OD Consultant and Business & Leadership catalyst was the moderator to the panel discussion. The other panel members were Mira Vempati, Head-Learning and Development, Hyundai Mobis, Hyderabad, Mr. Stanley George,Head-HR (South India), Hexaware Technologies,Chennai, Kiranmai Pendyala, Corporate Vice President, Greater Asia, EMEA-HR, AMD, Hyderabad and Yusuf Gararai, General Manager-R&T, Sivashakthi Group of companies, Hyderabad.

Initiating the discussion Harish Raichandani noted that workplaces of tomorrow will be more flexible, collaborative and mobile as compared to today’s office where people arrive after commuting and work for designated 48 hours. Careers and Offices are likely to be replaced by freelancers managing multiple jobs. The members of the panel have shared their projected vision of the changes that take place in the future of work and suggested the role HR departments have in preparing the organizations to meet the requirements thrown in by these future changes.

Several salient points have arised out of these discussions and the take aways for the delegates are: technological disruptions enable organizations to provide workplaces that are flexible and mobile-workplaces where people want to be and work, a place that stimulates people and also facilitates collaboration and flexibility. Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Big Data, collaboration platforms play the key role in redefining the future work as well the workplace. Collaboration, influence, continual learning becomes necessity.

Mindset becomes more important than skills and experience. New employee behaviors get shaped by social technologies and non-technical social platforms as well. Thus a new generational workplace will be full of new behaviors, attitudes and expectations. Importance of human element cannot be however be underestimated and will remain critical to the success of any organization. The future employee should be able to embrace vulnerability, challenge convention and be conscious of personal boundaries.HR departments are the catalysts to enable and speed up the changes through policy changes, strategies, adaptive training programs and employee development.

The conclave was attended by several senior HR officials from corporates cutting across the sectors.
