The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) celebrated its ‘Foundation Day’ on Monday.

As part of the platinum jubilee celebrates Prof Arun Tiwari, author and scientist delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Path of success: As learnt from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’

In his talk he touched upon his experiences when he worked with the former President on a stent project at DRDL during his career.

He mentioned about the teachings and philosophy learnt from him and reflected on incidents and episodes that transpired between him and Dr Kalam.

“Dr Kalam was the most exemplary Director of DRDO and was referred to as a ‘Satellite Man’ who made the SLV's a reality,” he said and also mentioned that he may be the only human being who was honoured with 48 doctorates in the world.

Lager, CSIR-IICT instituted awards to recognise the performance of employees and students to encourage and motivate them for better performance.

Prof Tiwari joined Director Dr Chandrasekhar in felicitating the staff, in-service and retirees, and distributed the awards to those who contributed significantly.

The Institute also presented cash awards to the staff children who secured more than 90 per cent marks in the science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology) and 100 per cent marks in any science subject in the 10+2 Examination.
