Hyderabad: The Press Club here is holding a protest meeting on November 7 at 10.30 am at its premises in Somajiguda here, to express solidarity with NDTV and condemn the draconian decision of the Union Government in asking the national channel to shut down for one day as a penalty for covering the terror attack on Pathankot Air Force base.
Club General Secretary S Vijay Kumar Reddy said in a press note on Sunday that the action of the Government was nothing short of trying to curb the freedom of press and freedom of expression.
The action and the punitive measures, as the Centre has put it, reminds us of the dark days of Emergency, he said.
