Mancherial: The State has achieved international recognition in sports with the encouragement extended by the government, stated Forest and Environment Minister Jogu Ramanna.

He attended as a chief guest at the concluding programme of State-level volleyball tournament conducted by School Games Federation in Kotapally mandal on Tuesday.

The Minister said that with the government’s support and the encouragement, sportspersons like Sania Mirza and PV Sindhu were successful at the international sports events.

He recalled that last year Khokho and Kabaddi events were successfully conducted in Adilabad. He said the government started building stadiums in each district.

Recruitment of Physical Education Teachers (PETs) in each government school would be done soon and many PETs were already promoted as Physical Directors (PDs).

Conducting of State-level sports event in a remote mandal like Kotapally was made possible due to the combined efforts of officials and people’s representatives, he said, while calling them upon to work with the same zeal and commitment for the development of the district.

MLAs Durgam Chennaiah, Kova Lakshmi and international Volleyball player Ravi Kumar said that the talent in the youth would flourish with proper coaching and encouragement.
