​Warangal Rural: The District Collector, Prashanth Jeevan Patil, asked the farmers at Narsampet to take up cattle rearing and milk production along with regular farming.

The farmers could earn an alternate income and could tackle drought conditions, crop failures if they take up dairy activities, he said. The Collector interacted with farmers during a one-day seminar at Narsampet in the district on Wednesday.

The programme was organised by TS Dairy Development Corporation. The officials of the dairy, animal husbandry department, lead bank, rural development department and farmers attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector stressed the need for increasing the milk collection from collection centres under Narsampet Bulk Milk Chilling Unit (BMCU). He sought to know the reasons why the target of milk collection was not met.

The target was to collect 5,000 litres per day, however only 2,225 litres of milk was being collected through 43 collection centres under your jurisdiction, he said while asking the farmers why they were not interested in dairy activities.

He told them to draw inspiration from Amul Dairy in Anand district of Gujarat. He asked the officials to take up a detailed study in every village to know the cause behind the decrease in the milk production and find solutions.

DRDA Project Officer Y Shekar Reddy, Dairy Development Deputy Director Tirupati Reddy, Revenue Divisional Officer M Ramakrishna Reddy, NABARD Assistant General Manager Krishna Murthy, Lead Bank Manager Sai Prasad and others were present.
