Nizamabad: Commissioner of Police Karthikeya said that 3011 phone calls were received under the programme ‘Dial 100’ from October 10 to November 9.

In a press release here on Thursday, he said that the ‘Dial 100’ programme was being held every month at the behest of the Telangana State Director-General of Police to enable the people belonging to Nizamabad,

Armoor and Bodhan divisions of the district to ring up the Commissioner of Police and explain their problems to him directly. The Commissioner, in turn, would redress their grievances. The cases that they received belonged to various categories of offences.

Among these, 222 cases relate to bodily offences or physical attacks, 868 accident cases, 43 relate to property offences, 155 cases relating to suicides and suicide attempts, 1626 cases relating to different types of offences. Also, 97 prank calls were also received.

The Police Commissioner said that the police personnel acted promptly on their complaints by taking appropriate steps. They reached the spot in five minutes of receiving the complaints.

He told the people not to make prank calls to the police providing them false information and warned that action would be taken against such pranksters or tricksters. He advised the people not to waste the time of the police unnecessarily.
