Sri Sadguru Sangeetha Sabha is organising a week-long classical music fest that will go on till November 27 at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College. Apart from six classical music concerts one literary programme is also planned for the festival.

The 23rd musical festival was commenced with the melodious duo vocal concert of Saraswathi and Krishnaveni popularly knowned as Vishnubhotla sisters of Vijayawada. The duo started their concert with Sahana raga varnam. With their rich experience in music they continued the concert with Saint Thyagarajaswamy keerthana “Anupama Gunambudhi” in Athana ragam, “Marachitino” in Lathankapriya ragam, the composition of Swath Tirunal “Narasimhamamana” in Arabhi ragam, Bhajan of Kanchi Paramacharya “Mithri Bhajatam” and Purandhara Dasu keerthana “Krishna baroo”.

The sisters have chosen the Shanmukha priya ragam as main item for ragam tanam and pallavi. Marvelous aalapana, swarakalpana for the kriti “Sada Ninusada, Harininn sada nera nammiti… Muralidhara Sridhara Dheera” had impressed music lovers in the auditorium.

Able instrumental support was rendered by R Dinakar on Violin, BVS Prasad on mridangam and M Haribabu on Ghatam.

BVS Prakash has presided over the inaugural meeting and expressed that music should be promoted and many more sabhas has to come forward to conduct music festivals just like in Chennai. Famous musician Annavarapu Ramaswamy and principal Music College KS Govindarajan were also present.
