Nakrekal (Nalgonda): Chandupatla village which has historical significance and still shares the signs of Kakatiya dynasty has continued to be a negligent historic spot even after CM K.Chandrasekhar Rao assured to develop the area as a heritage tourist spot.
This village has three open wells and temples of Lord Ganesh and Shiva, which dated back to Kakatiya dynasty.Neither the Tourism department nor Archaeology department had taken up any measure to protect the historic sculptures, temples or to develop Chandupatla as a historic tourism spot.
While inaugurating works of Mission Kakatiya at Rasamudram at Chandupatla in April 2015, the Chief Minister had assured to develop Chandupatla as a tourist spot by setting up an arch and installing a statue of ruler of Kakatiya dynasty Rani Rudrama Devi at the place where an inscription confirmed her date of death as November 27, 1289 AD.
Before finding the inscription, historians felt that Rudrama Devi had died in 1296 AD, but the inscription installed by a soldier of Kakatiya army Puvvula Mummadi at Chandupalta village has corrected the year of death to the existing one.
With the initiative of Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali, a bronze statue of Rudrama Devi riding on a horse holding a sword in her hand was readied up and brought to the village one year ago.
The efforts of the Yuvajana Mandali members to unveil the statue on November 27, 2015, which was the death anniversary of Kakatiya ruler, did not work out due to political reasons.
Generally, historical inscriptions would be shifted to Museums by the Archaeology department, but Rudrama Devi inscription was safety reinstalled at Chandupatla and is being protected by Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali, who is making efforts to have Rudrama Devi statue unveiled by Nizamabad M P Kalvakuntla Kavitha and waiting for her appointment.
Tanguturi Saidulu of Vivekananda Yuvajana Mandali informed that the entire village has celebrated the occasion of re-installation of inscription as a festival.
Unveiling of Rudrama Devi statue would also be conducted in the similar manner, he added. He informed that they would also conducting death anniversary of the Kakatiya warrior at Chandupatla village on November 27.
