MAA Research Foundation (MRF) and MAA ENT Hospitals restored hearing ability of 500 children. To celebrate the feat MRF hosted a gala evening over the weekend at the The Park Hotel.

Tollywood actress Lakshmi Manchu and popular TV Anchor Suma joined the kids in the event and cheered them as they undertook a fun walk on the ramp.

Founders of MAA ENT Hospitals, Sunita B Kumar and surgeon Dr KR Meghanadh were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Lakshmi Manchu said, “My grandmother is a born deaf and communicates through sign language.

My father always wanted her to regain her hearing ability and did everything including bringing her to doctors here with hope, but they ruled out the possibility of her regaining her hearing.

The informed that had we brought her at a younger age the procedure would have been possible.” “When she was a child there was no such technology to restore hearing.

Now, we have the opportunity to regain hearing and I am proud to join this celebration and greatly appreciate the work done by Dr Meghanadh,” she said.

“A growing child’s communication and speech are directly linked to the sense of hearing. The inability to do so make them not only challenged physically but also leaves a lot of mental trauma on the individuals.

The hearing impaired often suffer humiliation and ridicule due to lack of understanding and awareness amongst the general public,” said Sunita.
